pair-of-antique-gilt-bronze-baluster-89561
Pair of Antique Gilt Bronze Baluster Candlesticks with Engine-Turned Guilloche Pattern, Restauration Style, Early 1900s

Every surface of these candlesticks is covered in fine engine-turned decoration, the precise machine-cut pattern also called guilloché. Bands of diamond knurling alternate with crisp horizontal rings, so the gilt catches the light like a cut jewel as you move around them. Each one has a smooth, swelling baluster stem, a rounded knop beneath a flared candle cup, and a removable drip pan with a knurled edge. They stand on round, stepped bases edged with more crosshatched texture. The gilding is bright and warm. Compact and elegant, in the restrained Restauration and Charles X manner, they’re lovely on a dining table, a mantel or a dressing table.

Condition: Good Antique Condition, with a bright gilt finish and light wear consistent with age.

Dimensions & Materials (each candlestick)

Height: 7.1 in (18 cm)
Base diameter: 3.5 in (9 cm)
Material: Gilt bronze
Includes: Two candlesticks with drip pans

Historical Period: Restauration and Charles X style; circa early 20th century.

Shipping & Duties: Every piece is hand-wrapped, securely packed and fully insured for its journey to you, wherever you are in the world.
