pair-of-tall-napoleon-iii-style-spelter-43628
Pair of Tall Napoleon III Style Spelter Candlesticks, Fluted Hexagonal Columns on Cherub Mask Tripod Bases, Green Brown Patina

Standing over 17 inches tall, these candlesticks have the presence of church altar pieces. Each one rises as a long hexagonal column, fluted down every face, from a leafy capital at the base to a frilled, scalloped candle cup ringed with a beaded collar at the top. Below the column, the base swells into a richly sculpted tripod: small cherub heads peer out between curling scrolls and acanthus, and three scrolled feet end in leafy mask terminals. A deep green-brown patina, worn back to warm copper on the beading and high points, gives them a dark, time-worn character. They’re heavy and imposing, made for a mantel, a sideboard or either end of a candlelit dinner table.

Condition: Good Vintage Condition.

Dimensions & Materials (each candlestick)

Height: 17.3 in (44 cm)
Triangular base: 7.7 in (19.5 cm)
Candle cup diameter: 1 in (2.5 cm)
Material: Patinated spelter (régule)
Includes: Two candlesticks

Historical Period: Napoleon III, Renaissance revival style; circa late 19th to early 20th century.

Shipping & Duties: Every piece is hand-wrapped, securely packed and fully insured for its journey to you, wherever you are in the world.
