pair-of-vintage-italian-florentine-carved-82869
Pair of Vintage Italian Florentine Carved Giltwood Wall Sconces, Baroque Acanthus Plume, Four Lights Each with Gilt Tulip Cups

Tall plumes of carved acanthus leaves rise up the wall on each of these sconces, curling and overlapping into a crest at the top, with a wide S-scroll sweeping across the centre and leafy tendrils trailing to a point below. The carving is finished in a layered mix of silver and gold leaf, worn softly over the years to show warm wood beneath, which gives the leaves depth and an old-palace glow. Each sconce carries four lights: two high on the leafy plume and two on slender scrolling iron arms below, all held in little gilded tulip cups with candle sleeves. Large and dramatic, they bring Italian baroque grandeur to a dining room, a hallway or either side of a mirror.

Condition: Good Vintage Condition.

Dimensions & Materials (each sconce)

Material: Carved giltwood with silver and gold leaf, gilt tole tulip cups, iron arms
Bulb base: 4 x E12 candelabra per sconce
Includes: Two four-light wall sconces with candle sleeves

Lampshade: Sold without shades, leaving you free to choose ones that suit your room.

Historical Period: Italian Florentine baroque style; circa mid-20th century.

Electrical: Carefully prepared and professionally rewired by our workshop before dispatch; tested and delivered ready to install.

Shipping & Duties: Every piece is hand-wrapped, securely packed and fully insured for its journey to you, wherever you are in the world.
