vintage-1930s-art-deco-spelter-sculpture-66786
Vintage 1930s Art Deco Spelter Sculpture of Seated Woman with Pheasant on Black and Cream Marble Base, Large Mantel Statue

She sits at ease on the long marble slab, one hand resting on her knee and the other trailing to the stone, her gaze lowered to a pheasant stepping toward her along the edge. Her close-fitting cloche cap and long draped gown are pure 1930s. The dark patina is picked out with gilt highlights on the cap, the sleeves and the folds of the skirt, and her face and hands are finished in a soft ivory tone. The pheasant’s long tail stretches out behind it in bronze-gold. Below, a deep base of black marble on cream marble, banded with black Deco stripes at each end, frames the scene like a stage. It’s a large, quiet piece for a mantel, a sideboard or a long console.

Condition: Good Vintage Condition.

Dimensions & Materials

Height: 13 in (33 cm)
Base length: 27 in (68.5 cm)
Base depth: 7.3 in (18.5 cm)
Weight: 45.1 lb (20.45 kg)
Material: Spelter (zinc alloy) with patina and gilt highlights, black and cream marble
Includes: One sculpture group on its marble base

Historical Period: Art Deco; France, circa 1930s.

Shipping & Duties: Every piece is hand-wrapped, securely packed and fully insured for its journey to you, wherever you are in the world.
