vintage-art-deco-spelter-roaring-panther-88319
Vintage Art Deco Spelter Roaring Panther Sculpture, Green Bronze Patina Big Cat on Rouge Marble Oval Base, 1930s Mantel Decor

Jaws wide open in a snarl, this panther prowls forward with her head swung toward you, showing sharp fangs and a wrinkled muzzle. Her long, low body stretches out in one sleek line, her shoulders rolling and her tail curling up behind her in a neat hook. The modelling is pure Art Deco: smooth, simplified planes across the back and flanks, with the detail saved for the fierce face and paws. A deep green-bronze patina warms to copper on the head, ears and tail. She stands on a rounded oval base of rouge marble streaked with white, a bold colour contrast that makes the whole piece glow. At almost 12 inches long, she has real presence on a mantel, a sideboard or a desk.

Condition: Good Vintage Condition .

Dimensions & Materials

Panther length: 11.8 in (30 cm)
Panther height: 5.9 in (15 cm)
Base: 14.2 x 4.9 x 1.2 in (36 x 12.5 x 3 cm)
Material: Bronze-patinated spelter (régule), rouge marble base
Includes: One sculpture on marble base

Historical Period: Art Deco; circa 1930s.

Shipping & Duties: Every piece is hand-wrapped, securely packed and fully insured for its journey to you, wherever you are in the world.
