1950s-brass-and-bronze-wall-sconce-pair-81268-mmuh
1950s Brass and Bronze Wall Sconce Pair, Louis XVI Style Leaf Quiver Backplates and Single Scroll Arms

Slim and light, this pair suits the narrow spaces where a bigger sconce won't fit: beside a doorframe, between two windows or above a small desk.

Each sconce has a narrow tapering back plate shaped like an urn, decorated with long leaves, with a pierced loop at the top for hanging and a leafy drop below. A single scrolled arm, edged with leaves and finished with a curl, reaches out to a cup with a leaf-cast rim. The arm ends in a threaded tip made for French lamp fittings. Before European standards were agreed, French lamp makers used their own thread sizes, so old French lights often need French-thread parts to fit properly.

The sconces are in good vintage condition, and the finish would benefit from a clean. They aren't yet wired for electricity. They have been kept together as a pair since the 1950s and are ready for a new wall. Hang them either side of a narrow mirror, a bed or a doorway.

Single-arm pair: two 1950s brass-tone single-arm sconces with a leaf-cast urn back plate and scrolled arms, electrified and sold as a pair.

DETAILS

Size: back plate H 26.2 cm (10.3 in) · W 5.3 cm (2.1 in) · projection 15.7 cm (6.2 in) — each about the length of a sheet of letter paper
Material: brass-tone metal
Style-Period: Louis XVI style · 1950s
Weight: 1.09 kg (2.4 lb) the pair
Shipping: professionally packed, fully insured, worldwide · we handle the paperwork and pay all import duties · nothing to settle on delivery
Electrical: electrified in our workshop before dispatch · delivered working and ready to install · wall installation by a qualified electrician recommended
Condition: good vintage condition · finish would benefit from a clean
Lampshade: Sold without shades — small clip-on shades suit them
Returns: accepted within 30 days
Sold as a pair

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/1063/5388/5529/files/il_fullxfull.8681819391_24dv_56d9e041-b0f4-4cc0-935f-fcf442fbbbe1.jpg?v=1791318563
