antique-19th-century-french-louis-48537
Antique 19th Century French Louis Philippe Gilt Wood Wall Mirror, Arched Corners, Beaded Inner Frame, Mercury Glass, 24 in

Simple, graceful lines give this mirror its quiet charm. The gilt frame is plain and softly rounded at the two upper corners, the characteristic Louis-Philippe shape of the 1830s and 40s, and a fine row of tiny beads runs around the inner edge to frame the glass. The old gilding has mellowed over almost two centuries into a soft, patinated gold. The glass is original mercury silvering, which gives reflections a gentle, slightly misty glow that modern mirrors can’t imitate. On the back, the original pine panel backing, hand-numbered in old ink, and the cord hanger are still in place. It’s a lovely piece for an entrance hall, above a chest of drawers or in a bedroom.

Condition: Good Antique Condition.

Dimensions & Materials

Height: 24 in (61 cm)
Width: 18.9 in (48 cm)
Material: Gilt wood and stucco frame, mercury mirror glass, pine panel back
Includes: One wall mirror

Historical Period: Louis Philippe; circa 1830–1850.

Shipping & Duties: Every piece is hand-wrapped, securely packed and fully insured for its journey to you, wherever you are in the world.
