antique-19th-century-gilt-bronze-egyptian-64585
Antique 19th Century Gilt Bronze Egyptian Revival Caryatid Table Lamp, Draped Female Figure Stem, Urn Collar, Shade Harp

A small Egyptian maiden forms the stem of this lamp. She stands upright in a pleated headdress, with her arms folded across her chest and a draped garment knotted at the hips, carrying the weight of the lamp on her head like a temple caryatid. Above her, a dish-shaped drip pan and a classical urn, finely beaded and leaf-cast, lead up to a tall shade harp crowned with a pinecone finial. She stands on a round base edged with a ring of leaves and a beaded border. The design echoes the Egyptian fashion that swept French decorative arts after Napoleon’s campaigns, and it gives a desk or library table real presence. At over 22 inches tall and nearly 4 pounds, it is solid and well balanced.

Condition: Good Antique Condition, with a natural patina to the gilding and wear consistent with age, as pictured.

Dimensions & Materials

Overall height: 22.2 in (56.5 cm)
Weight: 3.7 lb (1.66 kg)
Material: Gilt bronze
Includes: One table lamp with shade harp and finial

Lampshade: Sold without a shade, leaving you free to choose one that suits your room.

Historical Period: Egyptian Revival; circa 19th century, later electrified.

Electrical: Carefully prepared and professionally rewired by our workshop, fitted with a plug or adapter for your country, tested and delivered ready to enjoy.

Shipping & Duties: Every piece is hand-wrapped, securely packed and fully insured for its journey to you, wherever you are in the world.
