antique-french-two-light-bouillotte-lamp-32931
Antique French Two-Light Bouillotte Lamp, Silver-Plated Bronze, Dark Green Tole Shade, Scalloped Base, 46 cm

The deep bottle-green shade and the cool silver-tone mount give this little lamp a quiet, scholarly look. It's at home on a desk among books and papers.

The lamp rises from a round, stepped foot with a scalloped edge, through a domed collar, to a pair of short arms with two turned candle cups and a small urn finial between them. A square rod runs up through the oval green tôle shade. The shade slides up and down and is held by a leaf-shaped thumbscrew. Inside, it's painted cream to throw the light back down. Classic bouillotte lamps stand on a wide, shallow dish. A version like this, on a round candlestick-type foot, was a neater desk lamp that took up less room on a writing table.

The lamp is in good antique condition. The shade has small paint losses and scratches, and the silver-tone mount shows light wear. It will be fully rewired in our workshop so it's ready for years of reading and writing. Set it on a desk, a secretary or a bedside table.

Desk bouillotte: an antique bouillotte-style two-light lamp with a silver-tone mount, a scalloped round foot and an adjustable dark green tôle shade, rewired in our workshop and ready to use.

DETAILS

Size: H 46 cm (18.1 in) · foot Ø 11 cm (4.3 in) · shade 24 × 17 cm (9.4 × 6.7 in) · a little shorter than a guitar body
Material: silver-tone metal, painted tôle shade, candle sleeves
Style-Period: Louis XVI style · 19th century
Weight: 1.2 kg (2.6 lb)
Shipping: professionally packed, fully insured, worldwide · we handle the paperwork and pay all import duties · nothing to settle on delivery
Electrical: fully rewired in our workshop before dispatch · US, UK or EU plug fitted at no extra charge · delivered working and ready to use
Condition: good antique condition · small paint losses and scratches to the shade · light wear to the silver-tone mount
Lampshade: Tôle shade included
Returns: accepted within 30 days
