It stands on four curved legs ending in paw feet. At the centre sit two cylindrical ink wells banded with dot decoration, each closed by a hinged domed lid with leaf decoration and a bud-shaped finial. Two wells were usual on a working desk, one for black ink and one for red, which clerks and letter writers used for accounts and corrections.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe inkstand is in very good vintage condition, with natural patina, and both lids open and close cleanly. Its patina is left just as it has developed.
