pair-of-antique-19th-century-bronze-49917
Pair of Antique 19th Century Bronze Medici Urn Vases, Gadrooned Bodies, Beaded Bands and Palmette Frieze, Square Bases

These two little urns take the classic Medici form, the bell-shaped garden vase of the Italian Renaissance villas, shrunk to a size that sits neatly on a mantel or desk. Each rises from a square plinth through a short stem ringed with a band of tiny palmettes and fine beading. The lower body swells with rounded gadroons, and a wide trumpet neck flares out to a rim edged with more beading. The bronze has a warm, mellow golden-brown patina, and traces of old polish in the grooves pick out the gadroons. As a pair, they make a classic garniture either side of a clock or mirror, lovely empty or holding a few dried stems.

Condition: Good Antique Condition, with a natural patina.

Dimensions & Materials (each vase)

Height: 4.5 in (11.5 cm)
Rim diameter: about 3.9 in (10 cm)
Material: Chased bronze
Includes: Two vases

Historical Period: Neoclassical, Empire style; circa 19th century.

Shipping & Duties: Every piece is hand-wrapped, securely packed and fully insured for its journey to you, wherever you are in the world.
