It’s a playful naturalistic touch, much loved in Second Empire bronzes. The stems are finely reeded like classical columns and rise from tripod bases of curling leaves on three gilt lion’s paw feet. At the top, each candle cup is chased with a frieze of grapevines and clusters of fruit. The two finishes, dark brown patina against warm gilding, make every detail stand out. They’re charming on a mantel or a library shelf, and a delight for anyone who loves a curiosity.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eCondition: Good Antique Condition, with an untouched patina, wear to the gilding, small knocks and light wax residue.
