pair-of-gilt-metal-mounted-faceted-glass-36865
Pair of Gilt Metal Mounted Faceted Glass Trinket Dishes, Three-Footed European Vanity Ware

This pair arrives from a European dressing table, where small footed dishes such as these once sat within reach of a mirror, ready to hold a ring or a pair of cufflinks set down for the night.

Each dish is formed from faceted glass, its star-cut base catching light from every angle, set within a gilt metal mount raised on three scrolled feet. The three-footed form is characteristic of European vanity ware from the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries, when jewelry dishes were designed to tilt slightly toward the sitter rather than sit flat, easing the eye and the hand alike.

Both dishes show light surface wear consistent with age and genuine handling, with the gilt finish softened in places and minor marks to the glass. Passed down through private hands before reaching us, the pair has been examined and gently cleaned in our workshop ahead of its next home. Well suited to a dressing table, vanity, or bedside surface, where the two can sit side by side holding rings or small jewelry.

In faceted glass and gilt metal, this pair measures 6 cm in diameter and 4 cm in height, each dish raised on three feet, sold together as a set.

DETAILS
Size: 6 cm diameter x 4 cm height / 2.4 x 1.6 inches / about the diameter of a billiard ball, roughly as tall as a golf ball is wide
Material: Faceted glass, gilt metal mounts
Style-Period: European vanity ware
Shipping: Professionally packed, fully insured, worldwide — we handle the paperwork, with all import duties paid by us; nothing to settle on delivery
Condition: Light wear consistent with age, softened gilt finish in places, minor handling marks to glass, structurally sound
Returns: Accepted within 30 days
