A single candle-style light stands out in front.

Each sconce has a tapering back plate in gold-tone metal, cut with long vertical grooves and finished with a pine-cone drop at the bottom. At the top sits a small urn with scrolled handles. One curved arm holds a round drip pan edged with beads, a cup and a cream candle sleeve. The long grooves are called fluting. They copy the columns of ancient Greek and Roman temples, and they were a favourite detail in Louis XVI design.

The sconces are in very good vintage condition, with a soft, mellowed gold tone. Others have looked after them before us, and they're ready to be looked after again. Their slim shape suits narrow spaces, either side of a bed, a bathroom mirror or a doorway.

Overview: a pair of single-arm wall sconces in gold-tone metal, with fluted back plates, urn tops and beaded drip pans.

DETAILS

Size: Height 30 cm (11.8 in) · Width 9 cm (3.5 in) · Depth 15 cm (5.9 in), per sconce — a little taller than a sheet of letter paper
Material: gold-tone metal
Style-Period: Louis XVI style · mid 20th century
Shipping: professionally packed, fully insured, worldwide · we handle the paperwork and pay all import duties · nothing to settle on delivery
Electrical: fully rewired in our workshop before dispatch · delivered working and ready to install · wall installation by a qualified electrician recommended
Condition: very good vintage condition
Lampshade: Sold without shades — small clip-on shades suit them
Returns: accepted within 30 days
Sold as a pair
