pair-of-vintage-gilt-tole-wheat-sheaf-15765
Pair of Vintage Gilt Tole Wheat Sheaf Wall Sconces, Two-Light Hollywood Regency Design with Ribbon Tie and Drip Sleeves

Each of these sconces is a sheaf of golden wheat, freshly gathered and tied at the centre with a ribbon bow. Tall ears of grain fan out above, ripe and full, among long, curling leaves, while the cut stalks spray out below like the base of a harvest bundle. From the bow, two arms curve out to leaf-shaped drip pans holding ivory candle sleeves with sculpted drips. The gilt finish has a warm, slightly burnished glow, deeper in the folds of the leaves. Wheat sheaf sconces were a signature of glamorous 1960s and 70s interiors, and they bring the same golden warmth today either side of a bed, a mirror or a doorway.

Condition: Good Vintage Condition, with light wear to the gilt finish consistent with age.
