pair-of-vintage-italian-style-gold-leaf-55554
Pair of Vintage Italian Style Gold Leaf Torch Wall Sconces, Louis XVI Ribbon Bow and Acanthus Flame, Single Light, Florentine

Each of these sconces takes the shape of a classical torch, its flame rising in a burst of gilded acanthus leaves above a beaded collar and a slim fluted cup. A wide ribbon is tied around the shaft in a loose, rippling bow, its ends trailing out to either side, and the torch tapers below to a small pinecone tip. The whole piece is finished in soft gold leaf, rubbed gently in places so that a warmer tone shows through, which gives it the mellow, hand-finished charm of Italian Florentine decoration. A single ivory candle sleeve sits in the cup. They’re graceful, romantic sconces for either side of a bed, a mirror or a doorway.

Condition: Good Vintage Condition, with gentle rubbing to the gold leaf consistent with age.
Dimensions & Materials (each sconce)

Height: about 11.4 in (29 cm)
Material: Gold leaf finish
Bulb base: E12 candelabra
Includes: Two single-light wall sconces with candle sleeves

Lampshade: Sold without shades, leaving you free to choose ones that suit your room.

Historical Period: Louis XVI revival, Italian Florentine style; circa mid-20th century.

Electrical: Carefully prepared and professionally rewired by our workshop before dispatch; tested and delivered ready to install.

Shipping & Duties: Every piece is hand-wrapped, securely packed and fully insured for its journey to you, wherever you are in the world.
