vintage-art-deco-silvered-spelter-97314
Vintage Art Deco Silvered Spelter Elephant Sculpture on Marble Base, Walking Asian Elephant with Trunk Down, 1930s Decor

This little elephant ambles forward with his trunk hanging low, almost touching the ground, and his ears folded softly against his head. He has the calm, gentle look of an Asian elephant on a slow walk. The sculptor captured the weight of the body, the wrinkled ridges along the trunk, the creased knees and the broad, toenailed feet. A silvery finish, worn back in places to warmer and darker tones, gives him a soft, aged glow. He stands on a rectangular block of grey and russet veined marble. It’s a charming Art Deco desk or shelf piece, and a classic good-luck gift for anyone who loves elephants.

Condition: Good Vintage Condition. There is a crack across the head running from below the eye to the base of the ear, with a fine line on the trunk, and wear to the silvered finish, as pictured.

Dimensions & Materials

Height: 3.9 in (10 cm)
Material: Silvered spelter (régule), marble base
Includes: One sculpture on marble base

Historical Period: Art Deco; circa 1930s.

Shipping & Duties: Every piece is hand-wrapped, securely packed and fully insured for its journey to you, wherever you are in the world.
