vintage-double-wall-sconce-attributed-68020
Vintage Double Wall Sconce, Attributed 1950s, White Glass Cone Shades with Line Pattern, Gilt Metal Arms on Wood-Tone Plate

The 1950s gave European homes a new, light-hearted kind of wall light. Designers favoured simple cones of glass, often decorated with lively patterns, held up on short curved arms. Lit or unlit, these sconces brought a playful, optimistic feeling to the post-war home.

This double wall sconce is attributed to the 1950s. A wood-tone wall plate, folded at an angle, holds two short gilt metal arms that curve outward in a gentle V. Each arm carries a tall cone of white glass, decorated with a pattern of fine criss-cross lines. The cones narrow toward the top, so light spills upward from the open ends onto the wall above while the glass itself glows softly, a double effect mid-century designers loved.

The glass cones are in good condition, and the gilt metal is pitted, as you would expect at this age. Like every lamp we sell, the sconce is checked in our workshop before it is sent, so it arrives ready to use. It brings a cheerful mid-century touch to a hallway, a bedroom or a reading corner.

In short, this is a vintage double wall sconce with white patterned glass cone shades on gilt metal arms and a wood-tone wall plate, attributed to the 1950s.
