A matched pair hung in line gave a corridor rhythm and order, and guided visitors gently through the house.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThis hall lantern has five sides, each fitted with a glass pane cut with a radiating star. Every pane is framed by a border of beading, a row of small raised balls the French call perles, which catches the light along each edge. The top of each panel is shaped with scrolls, and a small leafy ornament finishes the bottom. Above the frame, five curling scrolled arms rise to a central fitting, which hangs from a decorative canopy cast with leaves and flowers.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe lantern needs a good clean: there is some verdigris and wear, as pictured. The short rod that joins the lantern to its ceiling canopy is missing and will be replaced in our workshop, and, like every lamp we sell, the lantern is checked there before it is sent, so it arrives ready to install.
