vintage-hammered-brass-tone-champagne-71157
Vintage Hammered Brass-Tone Champagne Bucket with Lion Mask Ring Handles, Hollywood Regency Style

Covered all over in small hammer marks, this warm golden bucket catches the light from every side. A lion mask holding a ring guards each handle.

The bucket is brass-tone metal with a hammered finish, tapering slightly from a plain rim to a flat base. On each side, a cast lion mask holds a loose ring handle. Hammering metal like this is called planishing. The metalworker strikes the sheet over and over with a rounded hammer, and each blow hardens the metal slightly. So a hammered bucket ends up stiffer than a smooth one of the same thickness, as well as more lively to look at.

The bucket is in very good vintage condition, with a natural patina. It has seen many celebrations, and it's ready for the next. Use it for champagne or white wine on a bar cart or a dinner table, or as a cachepot for a plant.

Cooler in brief: a hammered brass-tone champagne bucket with lion mask ring handles.

DETAILS

Size: Height 18 cm (7.1 in) · Diameter 20 cm (7.9 in) — a little over half the height of a champagne bottle
Material: brass-tone metal, hammered finish
Style-Period: Hollywood Regency style · 1970s to 1980s
Shipping: professionally packed, fully insured, worldwide · we handle the paperwork and pay all import duties · nothing to settle on delivery
Condition: very good vintage condition · natural patina
Returns: accepted within 30 days
