Three curved glass panels form a clear cylinder, held between two gilt metal bands by slim fluted uprights, each finished with a small block at the top and a pointed drop below. An acorn-shaped finial hangs from the base. Above, three scrolled acanthus arms curve up to meet at a central rod, which carries a chain and a leafy canopy for the ceiling. Inside, two candle-style lights sit on leafy branches. Curved panes like these are made by heating flat glass over a mould until it softens and takes the shape, a process called slumping, which made such lanterns costlier to produce than flat-paned ones.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe lantern is in very good condition, with its three curved glass panels intact and a warm gilt finish.
