vintage-molded-glass-pitcher-with-44828
Vintage Molded Glass Pitcher with Silver-Plated Lid and Handle, 28 cm

A generous jug of thick moulded glass, crowned with a silver-tone collar and a broad handle, made for pouring orangeade, lemonade or iced tea on a summer afternoon.

The body is a wide, rounded form in heavy clear glass, moulded with a pattern in relief. A silver-tone metal collar wraps the neck, forms the pouring lip and carries a large handle for a comfortable grip. The wide opening makes it easy to fill, and to add fruit or mint. Jugs like this were often sold with a separate glass tube that dropped into the centre and was filled with ice. It chilled the drink all the way through without watering it down.

The carafe is in good vintage condition. The central ice tube is missing, and the silver-tone collar shows some wear to the plating. It still works perfectly as a jug for water, juice or cold drinks, and it makes a handsome vase for flowers. Set it on a dining table, a drinks trolley or a kitchen shelf.

Orangeade carafe: a vintage moulded glass orangeade jug with a relief pattern and a silver-tone collar, lip and handle; the central ice tube is missing.

DETAILS

Size: H 28 cm (11.0 in) · body Ø 19 cm (7.5 in) · opening Ø 8.5 cm (3.3 in) · W 24 cm (9.4 in) with the handle · a little shorter than a wine bottle
Material: moulded clear glass, silver-tone metal collar and handle
Style-Period: Retro · mid 20th century
Shipping: professionally packed, fully insured, worldwide · we handle the paperwork and pay all import duties · nothing to settle on delivery
Condition: good vintage condition · central ice tube missing · some plating wear on the silver-tone collar
Returns: accepted within 30 days
Sold as: the carafe only; the ice tube is missing
