Each backplate is shaped as a quiver, the long case an archer used to carry arrows. It is fluted along its length, with the feathered ends of the arrows bunched at the top and a leafy drop at its point below. Three arms spring from the quiver: two curve out to the sides on scrolled stems, and one rises in front, set a little higher. Each holds a leaf-decorated bobèche and a card candle sleeve moulded with drips of “wax.” The gilt finish is bright and well preserved.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe sconces are in very good condition, with their bright gilt finish holding up remarkably well. We’d like them to keep shining in a home that will switch them on often.
