Two scrolled, leaf-cast arms reach out to the sides, and each holds a round drip pan and a cream plastic candle sleeve with a wax-drip effect. The oval frame is called a cartouche. It was first made to hold a coat of arms or an inscription, but on pieces like these it was left plain, as pure decoration.

The sconces are in good vintage condition, and the old wiring reaches us as found. They have been kept as a pair over the years and are ready for a new home. They suit an entrance hall, a living room or the wall above a fireplace.

Two-light pair summary: two gilt metal two-arm sconces with a cartouche stem and scrolled arms, rewired and sold as a pair.

DETAILS

Size: H 26 cm (10.2 in) · W 28 cm (11.0 in) — each about as wide as an adult's shoe is long
Material: gilt metal, plastic candle sleeves
Style-Period: Louis XV style · mid 20th century
Shipping: professionally packed, fully insured, worldwide · we handle the paperwork and pay all import duties · nothing to settle on delivery
Electrical: fully rewired in our workshop before dispatch · delivered working and ready to install · wall installation by a qualified electrician recommended
Condition: good vintage condition
Lampshade: Sold without shades — small clip-on shades suit them
Returns: accepted within 30 days
