vintage-pair-of-louis-xv-style-wall-28228
Vintage Pair of Louis XV Style Wall Sconces, Gilt Metal Scrolled Arms with Leafy Bobèches, Two Lights Each

Two lights hung on opposite sides of a room rarely age in quite the same way. One may catch the afternoon sun, while the other is handled more often when bulbs are changed. Over the years, their gilt surfaces mellow to slightly different tones, and that small difference is part of the honest story of a pair that has been lived with.

This pair of wall sconces is in the Louis XV style. Each one has a tall, narrow backplate shaped with flowing curves and leafy ends. From it, two scrolled arms curl out to each side, each ending in a bobèche shaped like a spray of leaves, with a candle-style sleeve above. Gilding tends to wear first on the high points that hands touch, and here it has softened on the curves of the arms, letting the warm metal beneath show through.

The sconces are in good vintage condition. The two have mellowed to slightly different tones, one a little darker than the other, as pictured. Like every lamp we sell, they are checked in our workshop before they are sent, so they arrive ready to use. They suit a bedroom, a hallway or either side of a mirror.

In short, this is a vintage pair of Louis XV style wall sconces in gilt metal, with scrolled arms, leafy bobèches and two lights each.
