From the knot, a single arm curves out with a curl of acanthus leaves. It ends in a holder made for a small hanging glass shade. The arm is reeded, decorated with long raised ridges. Reeding is the opposite of fluting: where fluting cuts grooves into a surface, reeding builds up rounded ribs, like a bundle of reeds tied together.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe sconces are in good vintage condition. The shade holders differ slightly between the two, and the old wiring reaches us as found. They're sold without shades. They have been kept together as a pair and are ready for a new wall.
