A ribbon spirals around the shaft. At the centre, a tied bundle of leaves with a small rosette holds two leafy arms that curve out to the sides, with little curled volutes above. Each arm ends in a drip pan, a candle cup and a candle sleeve with a wax-drip effect. Ribbons wound around a shaft or tied in bows were a favourite Louis XVI detail. They were borrowed from the real silk ribbons used at the time to hang pictures and garlands on walls.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe sconces are in very good vintage condition. They have been kept with care as a pair and are ready to light another room.
