Each one has a wall plate with a carved-look rosette, from which a projecting arm extends to hold a cup of leaves and fruit. Below it hangs a ring in the form of a laurel wreath. The laurel was the ancient Roman symbol of victory and honour, and it became one of the favourite ornaments of neoclassical design.
