A cylinder of clear glass is held between two plain brass bands by slim vertical uprights, with small acorn finials at the top and little bun feet at the base. Above, curved brass arms rise to a central rod, which hangs from a chain and a plain bell-shaped canopy. Inside, two candle-style lights stand on a curved branch. The glass is bombé, a French word meaning “swelling outward,” also used for the gently curving fronts of commodes and chests.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe lantern is in good vintage condition, with a mellow patina on the brass and some darkening on the chain.
