The cut glass and gilt metal catch the light together.

The bowl is clear glass, cut all over in a diamond point pattern of small raised pyramids, with a smooth gilt metal band around the rim. It rests on a gilt metal stem with a beaded ring, on a round foot cast with leaves. Mounting glass in metal is a very old practice. A metal rim protects the fragile edge of the glass from chips, and a metal foot gives the bowl weight and steadiness. At the same time, the gilt adds warmth to the cool sparkle of the glass.

The bowl is in very good vintage condition. It has been well looked after, and it's ready to be enjoyed again. It suits a dressing table for rings, a side table for sweets, or a desk for paper clips.

Coupe summary: a small footed bowl in diamond point cut glass, with a gilt metal rim and a leaf-cast pedestal.

DETAILS

Size: Diameter 9.5 cm (3.7 in) · Height 7.5 cm (3 in) — about the size of a teacup
Material: cut clear glass, gilt metal
Style-Period: Louis XVI style · mid 20th century
Shipping: professionally packed, fully insured, worldwide · we handle the paperwork and pay all import duties · nothing to settle on delivery
Condition: very good vintage condition
Returns: accepted within 30 days
