Vintage Mid-Century Bouillotte Table Lamp, Empire Style Brass-Tone Desk Lamp with Red Tole Shade, Gold Laurel Garland, Adjustable
Turn the little key on the stem and the painted shade slides up or down, so you can set the light exactly where you need it. This bouillotte lamp follows a design born in late 18th-century France, where the lamps lit the card tables of the “bouillotte” game. Later they became a favourite for desks and reading corners. This mid-century version keeps the classic lines: a deep dished base, a slim column and a pinecone finial. The deep red tole shade is edged with a gilt laurel garland at the top and bottom. It’s a warm, handsome light for a study, a library table or a bedside.
Condition: Good Vintage Condition, with light tarnish to the metal and small marks to the painted shade consistent with age and use.
