Set of Four Vintage Louis XVI Style Bronze Two-Arm Wall Sconces, Torch Backplate with Swan-Neck Arms and Ribbon Tie, 2 Pairs
Each of these sconces takes the form of a classical torch: a tapering fluted shaft crowned with a fan of acanthus at the top, banded with fine reeding, and finished below with a ribbon tie and a small pinecone drop. Two slender swan-neck arms sweep out from the shaft in smooth, elegant curves to round drip pans. The lines are restrained and architectural, true to the Louis XVI style. The bronze has a warm, mellow patina with darker tones in the flutes. As a set of four (two pairs), they can light a whole room in the French manner: one pair either side of a mirror and another framing a fireplace, or all four along a long hallway.
Condition: Good Vintage Condition, with a natural patina and wear consistent with age.
