Vintage Art Deco Georges de Feure Moulded Glass Vase with Dancing Maidens, Signed, Frosted Smoky Grey Glass, circa 1925-1930
Around this vase, a procession of dancing maidens moves through tall arched panels, their light dresses swirling around their legs. One raises a tambourine high above her head, mid-turn. The figures stand out in soft relief against the frosted surface, catching the light along every fold. Georges de Feure, the Dutch-born designer who moved from Art Nouveau into Art Deco, created this design in moulded glass in the 1920s, and his signature is engraved on the base. The glass is a deep, smoky grey with warm bronze tones where the light passes through the thinner relief. It’s a quietly elegant piece for a mantel, a bookshelf or a dressing table, beautiful empty or holding a few stems.
