Vintage Art Deco Gilt Spelter Borzoi Dog SculptureStanding Russian Wolfhound with Feathered Coat on Black Marble Base

Head raised and mouth slightly open, this elegant borzoi stands alert on a slab of marble, as if he’s caught sight of something far across the fields. The sculptor caught everything that makes the breed so graceful: the long, narrow muzzle, the deep chest, the tucked-up waist and the slender legs. Every inch of his silky coat falls in wavy locks, from the feathered ruff at his neck to the plumed tail curling at the end. A fine collar circles his throat. Cast in spelter and finished in a warm gold tone, he stands on a block of black marble streaked with white and gold veining, layered over a pale stone plinth. At almost 11 inches long, he has real presence on a mantel or desk, and he’s a perfect gift for any sighthound lover.
