Vintage Empire Style Gilt Bronze Bouillotte Lamp, Cornucopia Horn Arms, Dark Green Tole Shade with Gilt Laurel Bands, Two Lights
Two horn-shaped arms curve up from the base of this bouillotte lamp like a pair of cornucopias, chased with tiny leaves along their length and capped with little cast rosettes where they meet the stem. They hold ivory candle sleeves in round cups, set above a long oval dish base that once caught candle wax. A tall rod with a ring handle at the top carries the oval shade, held by a thumbscrew so you can raise or lower it to set the light just where you need it. The shade is painted a deep, almost black green and banded top and bottom with fine gilt laurel garlands. The gilt bronze has a warm, polished glow. It’s an elegant, practical lamp for a writing desk, a library table or a bedside.
Condition: Good Vintage Condition, with light wear to the shade paint and gilt finish consistent with age.
