A summer afternoon in a royal garden unfolds across this long tapestry. Ladies in billowing rose and powder-blue gowns stroll on the arms of gentlemen in long curled wigs and embroidered coats, while greyhounds and little lapdogs play at their feet. On the right, a gallant bows to a lady stepping from a gilded sedan chair. In the background, an elegant coach waits beside a balustraded terrace, fountains play, and avenues of trees fade into the soft summer light. The palette is gentle, with sage green, cream, dusty rose and faded blue, and a border of pink flowering shrubs runs along the bottom. Long and low, it’s ideal above a sofa, a bed or a sideboard, bringing a touch of French court romance to the room.
Condition: Good Vintage Condition, used, with light fading, surface dirt and wear consistent with age.
