Antique 19th Century Bronze Greyhound Paperweight, Recumbent Sighthound with Floral Copper-Tone Collar, Desk Decor
Lying at rest with his long front legs stretched out before him and his hind legs tucked neatly under his body, this greyhound lifts his head to gaze into the distance, one ear folded back as if listening. The sculptor caught the breed’s lean grace beautifully: the deep chest, the arched neck, the fine narrow muzzle and the slender, long-toed paws. Around his neck sits a collar picked out in a contrasting copper tone, engraved with a frieze of tiny flowers. A glossy, near-black patina covers the body, worn back to warm bronze on the nose, paws and high points by years of handling. Made as a desk paperweight, it’s a wonderful companion for a writing desk or a bookshelf, and a fine gift for any greyhound or whippet lover.
Condition: Good Antique Condition, with wear to the patina on the high points.
