Vintage Brass-Toned Wall Sconces, White Glass Globe Shades, in the Style of Maison Jansen — Pair

Pierced brass gallery work — thin sheet brass cut and shaped into an openwork cage — was a signature move of French decorating houses through the late 19th and early 20th centuries, used to hold a glass shade above the light source while still letting the glow escape sideways. These wall sconces, in the style of Maison Jansen, use exactly that detail: a pierced brass gallery ring sitting just below each opal white glass globe shade, catching light in small diamond-shaped cutouts.

Each sconce mounts to a round brass-toned backplate, the stem below marked by a twisted black-lacquered knot motif before continuing down to an urn-shaped brass drop finial. The globe shades themselves are plain, milk-white glass, chosen to diffuse rather than direct the light — a neoclassical wall light form built for a soft, even glow rather than a pinpoint one. Sold as a pair, matched in scale and finish.
