1970s Brass Two-Light Wall Sconce, Loop Arms and Cylinder Sockets, Sciolari Style
Two brass-tone cylinders hang from looping arms on either side of a round wall plate, like a pair of lanterns on a bold, graphic frame. It's a strong, architectural light for a modern hallway, a study or a living room.
A round brass-tone backplate carries a short central cylinder. From it, two flat metal arms loop out and down, then up again, to two tall cylindrical shades, each capped with a dark top. The flat arms are a key part of the design. Bending a single strip of metal into a loop gave many 1970s wall lights their clean, graphic outline, almost as if the shape had been drawn in the air with one pen stroke.
The sconce is in good vintage condition, with a deep, aged patina and spots and marks of age on the cylinders and arms. The old wiring reaches us as found, and it will be fully rewired in our workshop, ready to light a wall for years to come. Hang it above a console, beside a doorway or in a stairwell, where its outline can cast interesting shadows.
Looped-arm sconce: a vintage 1970s two-light brass-tone wall sconce with flat looped arms and two cylinder shades on a round backplate, rewired in our workshop and ready to install.
