Heavy, faceted and full of light, this vase feels more like a cut jewel than a container. In the sun, its amber panels glow warm gold between flashes of clear glass. It is a bold, sculptural piece of glass.
The vase is a tapering beaker shape on a short hexagonal stem and a faceted hexagonal foot. The clear glass is coated with an amber layer and cut through in a bold geometric pattern. There's a ring of arched facets at the rim, and large triangles and diamonds with small star-cut points around the body. The foot and stem are cut with further facets and fine notches. Deep geometric cuts need thick glass, and at about 1.5 cm, the walls here are heavy enough to take bold, sharp facets that throw light in every direction.
The vase is in very good vintage condition. It passes on intact, its facets still crisp. On a sunny table or a windowsill, or filled with a simple bunch of flowers, it glows amber and gold throughout the day.
