The lamp base is built from a rounded rectangular frame of gold-tone metal, set on a black plinth. Inside the frame, a black block hangs from a slender central rod, so it seems to float in the open space. A grey plaque on its face is worked in an abstract relief of interlocking lines and blocks, like a city plan seen from above. In relief work the design is raised from a flat ground, so light from the side throws small shadows that make the pattern stand out.

The lamp is in very good vintage condition, and our workshop fully rewires it before it leaves. We have kept it as it was made, and it goes to you ready for its next room. Set on a desk or a console, it works as a conversation piece in a modern, Brutalist or eclectic room.
