A single fluted column on a small stitched plinth: the design is as spare as a classical drawing, and just as sure of itself. In a quiet room it stands straight and calm, adding a line of warm gold between the shade and the table. It is a lamp for people who prefer restraint to ornament.

A slim gold-tone column, fluted along its full length, rises from a curved square cup that rests on four small scroll feet. Below them sits a square plinth with a dark stitched covering and a raised, padded top. Fluting, the shallow vertical grooves along a column, comes from classical architecture, where it made columns look slimmer and caught the light in fine parallel lines.

The lamp is in very good vintage condition, and our workshop fully rewires or checks it before it leaves. Its next owner receives it with its character intact. On a desk, a side table or a bedside table, it brings a classical line to a traditional, Art Deco or modern room.
