This lamp is built as a full Corinthian column in gilt metal, its shaft fluted along its full length and rising to a capital modeled with acanthus leaf and volute detail, set on a stepped, square base with beaded and stiff-leaf borders at each level. Note how the transition from round column to square base is handled through a beaded collar rather than a plain step — a detail that ties the vertical fluting to the more architectural, right-angled base below it. Above the capital sits a substantial white opaline glass shade, flared and rounded in a bell-like uplight form, its milky, even-toned glass diffusing light rather than directing it.

The piece reaches us in good used condition, with wear consistent with age and handling, as visible in the photo. Placed in a living room corner or beside an armchair, its height and upward-facing glow make it better suited to ambient corner lighting than a close reading light.
