That silhouette proved just as useful once electrified, and lamps built in this oil-lamp form continued to be made well into the twentieth century, valued for the same reasons the original had been — a stable, weighted base and a handle that made the piece easy to move from desk to table.

This lamp is worked in gilt metal in an oil-lamp form, its wide dished base decorated with a band of chased ivy and palmette ornament, fitted to one side with a scrolled carrying handle finished with a leaf terminal. The neoclassical shade is worked in painted tole in a rich forest green, fitted with a flame finial at the top and decorated to the front with a crossed quiver, arrows, and torch motif in gilt against the green ground. Note how the shade's crossed-arrow and torch motif belongs to a specifically neoclassical, military-trophy vocabulary rather than the lighter floral idiom more typical of Louis XVI ornament proper — the kind of decorative detail worth looking at closely, since it places this piece's design language a little later and more architectural than its seller description suggests.
