The column is made of folded strips of polished gold-tone metal, set around a slender central rod that carries the lamp holder. At the bottom the strips open out into splayed foot tabs, each fixed to a round black base with a visible bolt. Folding a flat strip into an L-shaped section makes it much stiffer, the same principle used in steel building frames. That is why these thin strips can stand so upright and crisp.

The lamp is in very good vintage condition, and our workshop fully rewires it before it leaves. We have kept it as it was made, and it goes to you ready for its next room. With a plain drum shade in white or black, it suits a bedside table, a desk or a console in a modern or Hollywood Regency interior.
