Heavy Cased Glass Table Lamp, Deep Plum Core with Crackled Gold-Tone Foil, Clear Folded Wings, Sculptural Lamp Base

Deep plum glass with a flash of gold at its heart, this lamp base looks more like a set gemstone than a lamp. Light moves through it slowly, darkening at the core and brightening at the clear edges. It is a piece to look at by day as much as by night.

A dark plum core rises into a rounded dome, cased in a thick layer of clear glass that is folded out at each side into soft, wave-like wings. Inside the glass, a panel of gold-tone foil sits just beneath the surface, broken into a fine web of cracks. When metal foil is laid on hot glass and then covered with a further layer, the foil stretches as the glass is worked and splits into exactly this kind of crackled pattern.

The lamp is in good vintage condition, and our workshop fully rewires it before it leaves. It passes to you as found, with nothing added or taken away. Its low, wide shape suits a bedside table or a sideboard, where daylight can reach the clear wings.
