Framed in gold like a miniature portrait, a small romantic scene sits at the heart of this tall lamp. Under a softly pleated shade, the white and gold body glows warmly on a side table. It is a lamp for rooms that enjoy a little romance.

The body is white glazed ceramic in a tall, tapering baluster shape, decorated with gilt panels and a gilt trellis. At its centre, an oval reserve holds a painted romantic scene. The body is mounted on an ornate gold-tone metal base with scrolling feet, and topped with a gold-tone collar and a white ceramic cup beneath a large pleated cream shade. Gold on ceramic is applied as a liquid and fired at a low temperature, which fuses it to the glaze so it keeps its shine.

The lamp is in very good vintage condition, and our workshop fully rewires it before it leaves. The shade has a few small imperfections and signs of use. It comes with its pleated shade, small marks and all. On a living room side table or a bedroom chest, it brings a classic, romantic touch to a traditional, baroque or shabby chic interior.
