Pair of Antique Louis XV Style Gilt Bronze Two-Light Candelabra, Rocaille Scroll Arms with Flower Bud Cups, circa 1880
These little candelabra were made to stand at the ends of a dining table, and they’re full of movement despite their modest size. Each rises from a shaped base swirling with rocaille and leaves into a short, twisting stem. From the stem, two sinuous arms branch out sideways, sprouting acanthus as they go, and end in candle cups shaped like closed flower buds above ruffled, leafy drip pans. Between the arms, a spray of leaves and a single flower stands purely as decoration. Low and wide, they hold their candles at a flattering height across a dinner table and look just as lovely in a pair on a mantel.
Condition: Good Antique Condition, with a warm gilt finish and light wear consistent with age, as pictured.
