Pair of Mid-Century Double Wall Sconces, Ribbed Milk Glass Cylinders, Matte Black and Gold-Tone Metal Arms
Two lights on each sconce, set off-centre like the hands of a clock, give this pair its lively, slightly off-balance line. On a plain wall they read almost like a drawing: black dots, gold strokes and white columns of glass. They are lights that bring movement to a quiet room.
Each sconce starts from a small round black wall plate. A gold-tone metal arm bends out from it in an offset cross, carrying two matte black cups at different heights. Each cup holds a tall cylinder of ribbed milk-white glass, so every sconce has one light raised higher than the other. Ribbing moulded into milky glass breaks up the bulb's glare into soft vertical bands, so the light spreads evenly without a bright hot spot.
The pair is in very good vintage condition, and our workshop fully rewires both sconces before they leave. Each still has its original wall plate and fixing screws, and both go to you complete. Hung on either side of a bed, a mirror or a doorway, they give a warm, even light.
