Pair of Small Louis XVI Style Two-Arm Wall Sconces, Bronze-Tone Quiver Backplates with Arrows, Ribbons and Pine Cone Drops

Small enough for a narrow wall and detailed enough to reward a close look, this is a pair of classic French-style sconces. Each carries two candle lights on curving arms. They bring a romantic, formal note to a bedroom or hallway.

Each sconce has a slim, tapering backplate shaped as a quiver, with a bundle of arrow shafts at the top, a ribbon bow at the centre, a leafy cup below and a pine cone drop at the base. Two curved arms spring from the ribbon, each ending in a wide drip pan and a cream candle sleeve with moulded drips. The bundle of arrows shows a quiver, the emblem of Cupid, which Louis XVI designers used as a light-hearted symbol of love.

The pair is in very good vintage condition, and our workshop fully rewires both before they leave. They go on as a pair, exactly as they've always hung together. On either side of a bed, a small mirror or a doorway, they give a warm, candle-like light.

The pair: two bronze-tone metal two-arm wall sconces with quiver backplates, arrows, ribbon bows, pine cone drops and candle sleeves.
